Help for you as a relative at ARA

Do you have someone in your immediate family with an addiction? Here you will find information about the support services for relatives in the Department for Substance Abuse and Addiction Treatment (ARA).

You are not alone; there are many relatives in similar situations as you. At the hospital, you can receive guidance from our family contacts so that you can help both yourself and the person with a problem, regardless of the type of addiction. With us, you can get information, follow-up, help, and/or support.

By gaining more knowledge and understanding, you as a relative can be an important resource.

Contact us to find out how you can get started with treatment. You can talk to us at the hospital when you are accompanying the patient, or you can reach out to our family contacts during the day by phone.

Gruppetilbud

The Section for Substance Use Disorder Outpatient Treatment offers group therapy for those who are relatives of someone with a substance use problem or another form of addiction (gambling/gaming/steroids).

The group program includes both educational sessions and discussions on relevant topics, such as setting boundaries, communication, and self-care. The group is led by two group therapists.

The service is available to anyone experiencing challenges in their role as a relative, regardless of whether the person with a substance use disorder is receiving treatment at ARA OUS or not.
