Application for National Identification Number
DNA test of mother and child upon request for birth number and passport for children born abroad.
Some Norwegian foreign missions will require that, at the same time as attending to submit an application for a Norwegian birth number for a child, a DNA test for the mother and child has also been ordered.

Submit the Order Form
The test is ordered at Oslo University Hospital (OUS) by sending a completed order form via email to rettsgenetikk@ous-hf.no.
The following information must be included in the form:
- names and dates of birth for the mother and child
- billing address
- which foreign mission will receive the application and take samples from the mother and child
After placing the order, you will receive a reference from OUS – a test number – which must be provided to the foreign mission upon attendance. The test number will be sent to you via email along with an invoice.

Paternity
Please note that paternity for the child must be documented before the application process can commence – either by presenting marriage documents or by a paternity declaration approved by NAV.
In some cases, the father may be offered to undergo a paternity test through NAV to document his paternity for the child. It may be advisable to contact the Norwegian foreign mission prior to the application for the child's personal number to clarify the need for documentation of paternity.
