Haugaa, who researches hereditary heart diseases, is consultant cardiologist at OUS, professor at the University of Oslo and heads a center for research-based innovation, ProCardio.

For her, it is motivating that the research is useful. When she meets patients and their families, they ask her questions that her research provides answers for. How much can or should one exercise in combination with a heart disease? Is it advisable to become pregnant while diagnosed with a heart disease?
- They have many questions, and there are actually questions I can help them get answers to. It is very rewarding. That I can actually help people in a concrete way.
