Common Relationship Tests & Recommendations

Half-Sibling Test

"We have different mothers but wonder if we share the same father."

We recommend that the mothers participate in the test, if possible, to increase accuracy.

Full-Sibling Test

"We share the same mother but are unsure whether we have the same father."

We recommend that the mother participates in the test, if possible, to improve the reliability of the results.

Aunt/Uncle/Niece/Nephew Test

"The alleged father is deceased, but his sibling is available for testing. Can this provide answers regarding paternity?"

Yes, such testing can provide valuable information. We recommend that the child’s mother participates, if possible. If the deceased alleged father has multiple siblings, a more conclusive result can be achieved if at least two of them participate in the test.

Why the Mother’s Participation is Recommended

Including the mother in relationship testing helps identify which genetic markers the child has inherited from the mother and which originate from the biological father. This significantly increases the certainty and reliability of the final conclusion.
