Genetic relationship

Forensic genetic analyses used to clarify relationships are conducted to confirm or exclude a biological relationship between two or more individuals. The results may be relevant only to the parties involved, or they may be requested by public authorities that need to make decisions regarding, for example, the establishment or annulment of legal paternity, the assignment of national identification numbers to children born abroad, or the identification of a deceased person when their identity is uncertain or unknown.
