Over the past year, ProCardio underwent an extensive mid-way evaluation with the Norwegian Research Council (NRC). We are excited to announce that the NRC's Portfolio Board has decided to continue ProCardio under the current contract until 2028.
The primary objective for ProCardio, as outlined in our original project description, is to develop a clinically driven, validated ICT platform for cardiology that will enable significant advancements in individualized healthcare. By utilizing big data and artificial intelligence (AI), we aim to provide the best possible treatment and risk prevention for patients with cardiovascular diseases.
Addressing a leading cause of death
Despite advancements in healthcare, cardiovascular disease remains one of the leading causes of death in Norway. ProCardio tools aim to enhance patient care through improved selection criteria, optimized treatment, more accurate follow-ups, reduced hospital stays, and personalized health advice.
Our extensive Center self-evaluation has shown that we are ahead of the original plan in most areas, allowing us to raise ambitions and expand into new fields. Valuable feedback from our Scientific Advisory Board and the NRC expert panel, along with exciting developments in medicine, AI and clinical research, will inspire our future work.
Our team of over 100 affiliated researchers is committed to advancing knowledge and developing innovative solutions that can truly make a difference in patients' lives. As we progress, we are excited to collaborate with our partners and explore new frontiers in cardiovascular research.
